Sculptors don't have to create the illusion of space because they work with real, three-dimensional space. In this sculpture, the artist used square three-dimensional frames to enclose real space.

The artist made these arcs seem almost two-dimensional. When they are viewed from the side they almost disappear. The sculpture relies on the space existing between the arcs for its sense of tension.
