Now, if you noticed, most of the items that we have left from Mayan culture are made of stone or CERAMIC.But that doesn't mean the Maya didn't bury flowers or possibly food with those who died. It's just that food and flowers DECOMPOSE with time.

One of the great things about ceramic wares is that even though they may break, the broken bits, called POTSHERDS, last thousands and thousands of years, and people in the future can look at them to learn about the past.

What items would you place in a time capsule that could be opened years from now? Think about what these items might tell someone in the future about you or your culture. Will these items last for many years, as CERAMICS and metals do?
