Reed and Barton, manufacturer (Massachusetts)
Serving dish with lid, 1938
H. 3 x W. 13 5/8 x D. 9 1/4 in.
The firm of Reed & Barton was well known for their ribbed and fluted contemporary pieces of which this serving dish by Kogan is a fine example. She lived and worked in New York City and was purportedly the only freelance woman designer in the field of silverwork. The rich, gilt interior of the dish is unveiled when using the lid as another serving dish. It rests on the ball elements atop the lid which likewise function as handles.
