Jumo desk lamp, 1945

H. 18 x W. 11 x D. 7 3/8 (extended) in.

For the first half of the 20th century, the French created the most avant-garde lights available, partly owing to the efforts of the Jumo firm. This streamlined lamp is highly sought-after and includes a pivoting shade that folds into the plastic base. While this version is black, the lamp was also produced in green and white. Cleverly designed and sleek, it was a perfect match for a chic modern interior featuring the newest materials—plastics, stainless steel, glass, and various synthetic laminates.
