Will Bradley gained fame for his posters, magazine covers, and illustrations in interior design magazines showing Arts and Crafts furnishings. This poster first appeared on the cover of the November 1896 issue of Bradley: His Book, a short-lived art and literary magazine Bradley wrote, designed, and printed. The first of a series of posters engraved on wood, The Kiss features an exotic peacock motif, which was a favorite symbol for beauty and hedonism during the late 19th century. Bradley’s bold linear style indicates he was working within the Arts and Crafts tradition.
