Larsen: a living archive - Casements - Bahia BlindLarge windows are an important architectural element of many buildings constructed in the mid-20th century and can be difficult to successfully integrate in an interior design scheme.

Larsen designers have created many innovative and distinctive casement fabrics and they continue to be an important part of their production.

Casement fabrics need to balance aesthetic preferences with a variety of functional requirements. Many elements must be considered in their design, including privacy needs, desired levels of transparency and opacity, and coordination in both the interior design and the exterior view.

In addition, because of their exposure to environmental factors, the fabric itself must withstand exposure to sun, heat, and moisture.

Controlling the amount of 'give' in a fabric is also critical as the casement will tend stretch when hung at the window.
